Through this project I wanted to go back to my routes with traditional blacksmithing techniques while focusing on contemporary forms. I have always been so fascinated by forging, it’s ability to transforms straight lines to curved, to create harmony and tension. I deployed these dualities to challenge the perception of containment, and the archetype that is the vessel. 

Ambit has allowed me to reimagine the vessel form, looking back on holding as the vessels condition. Allowing motion and movement as well as implied function and meaning to be explored. The vessel is static and transitory. Ambit blurs these lines, the interplay of light and shadow enables the vessel to be everchanging.
